becoming a minerva business angel
Minerva is pleased to welcome new Investor Members (business angels), whether already experienced or considering business angel investment for the first time. Members appreciate Minerva's focus on high calibre investment opportunities, the personal interest and our supportive approach.
We do not put our Members under pressure to invest. Membership is free.
Minerva's business angels can acquire equity stakes in a flow of developing, forward-looking companies that have potential for significant capital growth. They see investment proposals from traditional business sectors, and from an expanding population of high-potential companies that sometimes include spin-outs from some of the UK's leading universities.
Some Members prefer to invest as members of an angel syndicate, in which they may play an active part. The syndicate might only come together around a single transaction, or it might have an indefinite life, with members opting in and out of specific investment opportunities as they wish. Many Members prefer to invest alone. When requested, Minerva assists the creation and operation of investor syndicates or clubs.
Frequently there are opportunities for individual Minerva angels and for syndicates to invest alongside professionally managed venture capital funds, as can be seen on our Case Studies page.
Through its Enterprise Investment Scheme the UK Government gives substantial tax benefits to UK investors in eligible private companies (20% of share purchase repaid through your tax bill; capital gains are tax-free after 3 years).
Before making any investment, prospective investors are advised to take advice from a suitably qualified independent professional who is experienced in advising on investing in unquoted companies.
